Who We Are

About Us

Our Approach

An Unparalleled Yeshiva Experience in Eretz Yisroel

For a budding yeshiva bochur, a post-high school year(s) of personal development in Eretz Yisroel can initiate a lifetime of commitment and growth in Torah and Yiras Shamayim. Located in Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh, just minutes from its mekomos hakedoshim, Yeshiva Ohr Hatzafon provides an unparalleled yeshiva experience in Eretz Yisroel.

Our unique approach is as intuitive as it is exceptional. In the context of a classic yeshiva schedule, including limudim of iyun at the highest level, bekiyus, mussar and halacha, the yeshiva provides individualized attention, focus, and support to each talmid that is tailored to maximize his personal growth into a Talmid Chacham. This growth is keyed by the skilled instruction of caring rebbeim, positive role modeling by rebbeim and kollel yungeleit, and nurturing in the talmidim a deep ahavas Hashem and Ahavas HaTorah.

Uniquely Interactive Shiurim

The shiurim are uniquely interactive. Each maggid shiur focuses on drawing out pshat together with the talmidim. The talmidim actively participate in careful analysis of the gemara and mefarshim in order to discern the depth of their genuine intention. The magidei shiur encourage each talmid’s contributions and endeavor to understand his line of reasoning in order to help refine and advance analytic abilities. This didactic collaboration is exceptionally rewarding for talmidim and they acquire analytic and textual skills that will serve them in limud HaTorah for their entire lives.

Mussar & Middos Development

At Ohr Hatzafon, strong emphasis is placed on mussar and middos development. Mussar seder is a daily highlight and several weekly vaadim feature intensive discussion which centers on practical advice for instilling middos tovos.

Bonds That Last a Lifetime

The rebbeim place extraordinary focus and effort on developing personal connections with every single talmid. Talmidim at Ohr Hatzafon feel comfortable and secure discussing any topic with the rebbeim and seeking guidance in areas of personal concern. Rebbi-talmid bonds developed in the yeshiva are actively cultivated even after a talmid leaves — and are strong and enduring. The bochurim at Ohr Hatzafon are an impressively close-knit group of young men that develop strong bonds through shared experiences of personal growth and development that can last a lifetime.
